Department Description
Independently oversee and manage a complex translational research program working under the general direction of the Principal Investigator. Apply expertise in translational research to leverage existing relationships and capabilities to continue leading and supporting strategic programs. The role provides leadership to perform complex analyses, design and implement programs and infrastructure that supports the efficient execution of translational initiatives. Working collaboratively with faculty leadership, the incumbent develops program components, facilitates program-level meetings and initiatives, and helps formulate and implement strategies, policies, and operational processes within defined program scope. #CA-AR
The position serves as a primary liaison to key university departments across UCD and UCDH and manages complex external partnerships, aligning collaborative projects with strategic objectives.
The incumbent also leads outreach and professional engagement activities, including conference planning and execution. Responsibilities include scientific coordination of abstracts and speaker sessions, collaboration with conference leadership and organizing committees, and oversight of logistical compliance in coordination with UCDH, Aggie Square, and the University Conference and Events Center.
The incumbent will also conduct project management and lead technical development for the Extracellular Vesicle (EV) Core Facility in Carney Lab. Responsibilities include assay development, standardization of scientific protocols, and delegation of research project tasks.

Department Overview
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is a large, complex academic department in the College of Engineering and provides instruction and research in multiple areas of biomedical engineering. The BME department is responsible for administering $29M- $32M in annual expenditures (FY25 ~$17M in sponsored projects). BME has approximately 500+ undergraduate students and a graduate group of 120 students and a newly approved self-supporting professional degree (Master of Engineering in Medical Device Development). BME has 70 academic and staff employees including postdoctoral scholars, project scientists and other scholars.
