Join the Lower Colorado River Authority as a Transmission System Operations Trainer and become a critical part of our constantly improving team! You'll be instrumental in supporting the Initial and Continuous Qualification of LCRA NERC Certified System Operators. How You’ll Contribute:
Develops and delivers customized training programs. Builds realistic simulations, exams, training manuals and comprehensive learning modules using various technologies (i.e. Energy Management System simulator, PowerPoint, etc.), maintaining training records and other associated documentation.
Researches and incorporates ERCOT protocols & guidelines, NERC policies & procedures, LCRA policies, and other departmental policies & procedures (i.e. LCRA Switching Procedures, System Operations Procedures, and FERC policies & procedures) into all training programs and simulations, preparing operators to pass the ERCOT and NERC certification tests.
Coordinates with engineering, planning, field operations and technical support staff to address operational issues such as equipment outages, scheduled maintenance, operational procedures, and safety into training curriculum. Serves on internal committees as assigned.
Prepares staff to pass internal requirements necessary to operate the LCRA TSC transmission system.
Assists with planned and unplanned ERCOT, NERC and Texas Reliability Entity (TRE) audit responses as related to assigned area of responsibility.
Performs work by traveling independently or with other staff to various locations (substations, power plants, etc.) as necessary to deliver field-based training curriculum for System Operations Control Center assignment.
How You’re Qualified:
Nine or more years of experience in design, delivery or implementation of technical training and/or operations, experience with NERC and Reliability Coordinator/Independent System Operator protocols and procedures, or other relevant experience.
A degree(s) in education, engineering, electrical theory or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
Fluent in the English language
Driver's license
How You’ll Stand Out:
Certification in instructional development or a similar field.
Experience with developing e-learning modules and using advanced training technologies.
Proven ability to successfully implement training programs in a fast-paced environment.
North American Reliability Corporation (NERC) Certification.
Transmission Power System Operations experience.
Demonstrated passion for continuous improvement.
