General Statement of Duties

The Forsyth County Department of Public Health is seeking a highly energetic and self-motivated professional to work as a Transportation Aide to provide transportation as part of the services of the Preventive Health and Education Services division. Our program provides services to eliminate transportation barriers and increase appointment visits for clients receiving public health services or participating in public health programs. The overall mission is to work as a team in an effort to improve health outcomes and the human condition in Forsyth County.

This position also provides administrative assistance to programs within the Preventive Health and Education Services division of the Public Health Department, assisting with chaperoning teens and assisting with childcare for parenting classes and events within the division.

The person selected for this position must have a valid drivers license and be able to drive both a 7-passenger and 15-passenger van.

Work hours may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Distinguishing Features

A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

Knowledge of the social, economic, and environmental conditions of the clients to be served.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to communicate with patients tactfully and courteously.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

Ability to perform basic computer functions.

Knowledge of car seat installation and seatbelt usage.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ability to read and write information relevant to performing the work.

Must have a valid drivers license.

It is also preferred that the candidate be able to:

Use Microsoft Office and/or Google products such as Google Docs and sheets.

Use an office phone, desktop computer, laptop, copier, LCD projector, and carts for transporting materials to meeting rooms for set up.

Use GPS navigation system.

Use cellular devices and Google maps.

Write reports and accurately enter data.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position has been identified to interact with children and must comply with NC G.S. 153A-94.2(b) "requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI." These checks must be conducted in accordance with G.S. 143B-1209.26, the statute which authorizes the SBI to provide a fingerprint-based state and national criminal record check to cities and counties.
