Looking for a career leading a team of building and grounds workers, oversee and manage the improvements and renovations and maintenance of state properties, and see the results of your work every day? A Transportation Building and Grounds Manager provides hands on leadership to a building and grounds maintenance crew responsible for keeping the building and the grounds of state facilities a safe and pleasant environment. As a Building and Grounds manager, you'll work alongside your crew while helping plan, coordinate, and oversee daily maintenance and repair activities of state facilities.
What You'll Do As a Building and Grounds Manager, you may:
? Lead and direct a crew maintaining, repairing, and renovating state property.
? Recommend alterations to existing structure.
? Evaluate and determine adequate operating space requirements.
? Ensure state building codes and safety and fire regulations are met.
? Establish maintenance and repair procedures to be used by all building maintenance personnel.
? Provide instruction and on-the-job guidance to crew members.
? Monitor work to help ensure it is completed safely, efficiently, and correctly.
? Determines and makes recommendations for additional structural lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
? Maintain records and utilize a state purchasing card.
Who We're Looking For: We're looking for a dependable individual who are ready to lead by example. Successful Building and Grounds Managers are knowledgeable of the phases of building construction, janitorial work, and office renovation and able to communicate with a team, and willing to step in and work alongside their crew, Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Knowledge of various phases of construction. Experience with building construction. Knowledge of safety and fire regulations, Knowledge of building codes. Ability to read and revise blueprints. Ability to identify maintenance and repair needs.

High school diploma or the equivalent.

Travel is required; therefore, a valid drivers license is required.

A 457 plan is similar to the 401K plans offered by private companies. Annual Increment Pay The annual increment is $60 for each full year of qualifying service, and is paid in July of each year. This is available to employees with 3 or more years of service. Holidays Twelve (12) paid holidays in each year. Vacation 15 to 24 days per year depending on length of service. Paid Sick Leave We offer an outstanding paid sick leave benefit. Employees earn 1.5 days each month or 18 days per year. There is no limit to the amount of sick leave an employee can accumulate. Full compliance with Family Medical Leave and WV Parental Leave Act. Employee to Employee Leave Donation Program. Military Leave - Paid Military Leave Training, and Developmental Opportunities We offer many formal in-house training classes.
