Key Responsibilities:- The Transportation Civil Designer plays a key role in supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams by developing high-quality design and drafting deliverables for a wide range of infrastructure and electrical projects which requires advanced proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD), OpenBridge Designer (OBM) and Civil 3D, with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to industry and client standards.
- Develop, produce, and modify detailed design drawings and construction documents using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), OpenBridge Designer (OBM) and Civil 3D.
- Interpret engineering sketches, markups, and design concepts to independently generate complete and accurate drawing packages.
- Prepare and revise plan sets, profiles, details, and plot drawings for design submittals and construction documentation.
- Apply and enforce company, client, and industry CAD standards, supporting consistency and quality across all deliverables.
- Coordinate closely with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.
- Utilize and maintain CAD standards, templates, and detail libraries to streamline production and improve drafting efficiency.
- Identify design conflicts or inconsistencies and proactively propose practical, technically sound solutions.
- Perform quality control reviews of drawings to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
- Support design development through redline incorporation, field markups, and as-built documentation updates.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD workflows, standards, and best practices.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior drafters or team members as needed.
- Collaborate on projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Support compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and project requirements.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:- Must Have Skills: Must have min 7 to 15+ years of experience supporting Civil Design Projects e.g. Briges, Roadways and or Highways.
- Software Requirement: Civil 3D AND OpenRoads Designer (ORD) OR OpenBridge Designer (OBM).
- Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and 7 years related experience Required OR Associate Degree and 8 years related experience Required OR 9 years progressive detailing and design experience.
- Expert understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
- Expert knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
- Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of civil discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
