SUMMARY
The Transportation Coordinator reports to the Program Operations Director and is responsible for providing a coordinated transportation system to serve ALPI clients. The Transportation Coordinator works closely with the Program Operations Director to coordinate the safety and maintenance of equipment needs for school buses and all Head Start assigned vehicles in accordance with the Federal, State and DCF regulations and Performance Standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Implements and evaluates a transportation program to effectively meet the transportation needs of ALPI clients.
• Coordinate transportation routes with assigned drivers to include child's name, pick up time, departure time and attendance.
• The Head Start Transportation Coordinator ensures that high standards of safety practices are met and maintained at all times with the operation of vehicles and the bus routes.
• Reviews Transportation Inspection Reports and follow-up to ensure timely repairs and/or services.
• Responsible for providing training and technical assistance to Bus Drivers; on safety practices (child restraining systems, vehicle operations, etc.); appraises performance; and addresses and resolves complaints.
• Maintains appropriate records and files (i.e., daily inspections, monitoring reports, referrals, etc.)
• Maintains records of maintenance and service to vehicles (i.e., repairs, warranties, routine services, etc.)
• Works in close cooperation with the center staff (Child Development Services Manager, and Family Services staff) to implement the referral process and transportation procedures.
• Oversees a log of transportation services by keeping a record of gas and mileage in providing transportation services to ALPI clients.
• Assigns drivers for daily pick up/drop off and field trips.
• Participates in pre-service and on-going training, agency events, workshops and educational classes for professional development as required.
• Reports suspected child abuse and neglect situations.
• Submits reports covering all program activities as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Directly supervises Bus Drivers
• Indirectly supervises Bus Monitors
