Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Transportation Data Scientist to join high-impact team applying AI/ML to transform safety, freight, and mobility outcomes. This role is located in McLean, VA through 100% full onsite presence.
The Transportation Data Engineer will design, build, and evaluate AI/ML models using multimodal transportation data to advance mobility and transportation safety.
Responsibilities of the Transportation Data Scientist include:
• Design, develop & deploy AI/ML models for transportation use cases • Build & integrate multi-source datasets addressing data quality issues • Evaluate model performance & robustness & provide recommendations to improve scalability, reliability & trustworthiness • Engage stakeholders via workshops/briefings, translate needs into roadmaps, proposals, & implementation strategies • Collaborate cross-functionally to align with federal objectives, contribute to technical reports, monthly progress, risk mitigation & iterative model refinement
Qualifications of the Transportation Data Scientist include:
• Bachelors degree in CS, Data Science, AI, EE, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Masters preferred) • 5+ years of professional data science/ML experience • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy & applied AI techniques • Proven ETL/data integration with multimodal data, experience managing data quality in production-style workflows • Strong model evaluation skills & testing under variable data conditions
Active Public Trust clearance is required.
Compensation for the Transportation Data Scientist includes:
• Salary: $95,000-$130,000 depending on experience • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan, Holidays, PTO, sick leave as required by law
