Main Ingredients of the Job!
As a US FOODS® Dispatcher you will be responsible for coordinating driver activities to resolve service issues. The main objective is to verify that the customer's needs are met in a prompt and professional manner.
Great Dispatchers are crucial to the US FOODS® team and one of the key members of our organization. Our Dispatchers strive for integrity and reliability, while building trusting relationships with team members.
What you bring to the table
In the case of a vehicle accident or driver injury, the dispatcher must notify the manager/supervisor in charge and the safety specialist ASAP.
Coordinate driver activities to minimize hours of service violations.
Verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.
Assign backhauls as needed to be done in the most efficient manner possible.
Coordinate trailer and tractor assignments.
Communicate to the sales force and operations management if there are any concerns regarding service issues that may arise in the event of a late dispatch, breakdown or other service failure.
Reassign routes as needed.
Visually inspect each driver's appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Coordinate shuttle assignments to minimize downtime and overtime.
Complete Attendance Reports.
Distribute intercompany mail to sales force.
Other duties as assigned by management.
What you bring to the table
Education/Training:
High School Diploma/GED required
Related Experience/Requirements:
Must have working knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and driver's logs.
Must be organized and detailed; and have legible handwriting.
Must be able to manage several things at once.
Must have (2) years transportation experience
CDL A preferred
