PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Maintain efficient communications and route assignments among the fleet of vehicles operated for the transportation of students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dispatch personnel and vehicles as prescribed by Supervisor.
- Serve as receptionist for the Transportation Office and assume primary responsibility for the two-way radio communication system.
- Assigns students to appropriate vehicles and routes.
- Maintains and updates student routing and attendance schedules using available technology.
- Assist with in-servicing and proper training of crossing guard personnel.
- Verify and record for use by the Transportation Program, the calendars, time schedules, closings, late starts, and early dismissals for all schools and students served.
- Works with contractors to secure substitute personnel for absent drivers.
- Confirm, arrange, and maintain files on field trips.
- Assist the supervisor in maintaining reports on mandated services for vehicles.
- Maintain contractor/driver employment files and credentials.
- Compile and prepare data regarding contracted services.
- Track and document student attendance for mandated reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- HS Diploma or the equivalent required with relative work experience in the area of transportation services. Experience in school transportation services is a plus.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office and other office equipment is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and have organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing ideas and concepts effectively. Proficient communication and organizational skills.
WORK CONTRACT: In accordance with the AFSCME bargaining agreement
260 Days per year, 8 Hours per day
