Qualifications • College hours • High school diploma or GED • Commercial Drivers License CDL with appropriate endorsements • School Bus Driver Certification or able to obtain with six months of hire date • Two years of experience as a public-school bus driver preferred • Have knowledge of record keeping and office procedures

Pass annual physical in accordance with state law Negative result on drug and/or alcohol tests administered as pre-employment random post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion basis in accordance with federal law and district policy

Able to read and interpret maps and routes Able to climb in and out of all school bus emergency exits Diplomatic and flexible in dealing with interns, external public Able to work with minimal supervision Able to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively High degree of verbal communication skills

Primary Purpose Knowledgeable of the district transportation services department in order to effectively communicate with the public and relate to staffs needs. Direct all movement of buses within the assigned transportation service area. Provide the logistical support effort in providing safe and on time transportation to all students of KISD. Safely drive students to and from school on a schedule assigned by the Transportation Department. Safely transport students and staff to and from district sanctioned activities. Always act in the best interest of the district, the students, and the community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities • Record driver/attendant absence calls • Assign substitute drivers and attendants to cover driver absences • Monitor and respond to two-way radio communications • Respond appropriately and decisively to emergency situations in person via telephone 2-way radio • Answer and route telephone calls, record and distribute messages in an accurate and timely manner • Coordinate the tutorial bus routing • Coordinate the activity trip program • Assign drivers and buses for activity trips • Identify and work as needed on non-driving tasks • Operate any Katy ISD school bus and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner while following all traffic laws, district policies, district regulations, and Transportation Department regulations

Working Conditions Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Work outside and inside around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposed to heat, dampness, and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel. Prolonged driving and sitting. Irregular hours and occasional prolonged hours.
