Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. The role requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential DutiesPerform highly advanced and complex engineering design work.Coordinate the review and processing of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates.Monitor consultants' progress and work quality; check invoices and associated documents.Represent the district at technical meetings and public hearings.Review schematics, PS&E, and project designs on transportation projects.Make presentations and represent TxDOT.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science (higher degrees accepted by TX PELS).Experience:Transportation Engineer III: 6 years of engineering or transportation engineering experience (full‑time or prorated part‑time). Graduate education may substitute for experience at a one‑to‑one ratio.Transportation Engineer IV: 7 years of relevant experience with similar substitution rule.Transportation Engineer V: 8 years of relevant experience with similar substitution rule.Licenses and Certifications:Valid driver's license (mandatory for operating a state vehicle).Licensed Professional Engineer.
