Transportation Engineer III – Roadway / Highway Design Pennsylvania & New Jersey Locations (Exton, Philadelphia, Allentown, Camp Hill, Fort Washington, Pittsburgh, Burlington, Freehold, Parsippany, or Shamong) Full-Time We are seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer III – Roadway / Highway Design to support transportation infrastructure and roadway design projects across multiple office locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This role will focus on roadway, highway, corridor, and multimodal transportation projects while supporting project execution, technical leadership, and client coordination. The ideal candidate will bring strong transportation engineering experience, roadway design expertise, and the ability to independently manage technical assignments while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Transportation Engineering & Design Support roadway, highway, corridor, bridge, multimodal, and transportation infrastructure projects Prepare engineering plans, reports, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and technical documentation Lead technical transportation engineering assignments throughout multiple project phases Conduct field reviews, site observations, and engineering data collection Perform roadway and transportation analysis and develop engineering recommendations Prepare exhibits, graphics, and presentation materials for public and client meetings Participate in construction-related assignments and project coordination efforts Technical Leadership & Project Coordination Lead technical tasks while coordinating schedules, budgets, and deliverables Perform QA/QC reviews for transportation engineering documents and project work Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams, agencies, and external stakeholders Support proposal preparation, grant applications, and project presentations Develop and improve engineering procedures, workflows, and technical tools Mentor and assist junior engineering staff Client & Stakeholder Interaction Participate in client meetings, public engagement activities, and agency coordination Support ongoing client relationships and business development initiatives Present technical findings and project recommendations to internal and external stakeholders Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required Coursework or concentration in Transportation Engineering and/or Highway Design preferred 5+ years of transportation engineering experience required EIT certification required OR equivalent transportation engineering experience PE license preferred or ability to obtain within six months Experience preparing roadway or traffic engineering plans/studies required Experience performing QA/QC reviews and directing technical tasks required Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or related engineering design software Experience with AutoTurn and GuideSIGN preferred Familiarity with DOT standards, roadway design criteria, permitting processes, and construction standards Knowledge of ADA standards and construction practices preferred Valid driver’s license preferred Preferred Skill Sets Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and technical writing skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Experience leading technical transportation design assignments Strong collaboration and mentoring capabilities Interest in professional growth and long-term career advancement Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $90,000 – $120,000 depending on experience Comprehensive benefits package offered, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, professional development support, and performance-based incentives Additional Information Primarily office-based environment with occasional field/site visits Some local and overnight travel may be required Exposure to active transportation and construction project environments as needed
