Job ResponsibilitiesAt Lexington Maintenance, the employee assists a contract engineer with gathering quantities for various county contract projects, to include but not limited to Brush Management, Catch Basing Conversions and other special projects. The employee maintains the county assets inventory of items inclusive of pavement marking, sidewalk, handicap ramps and culverts for Federal and Non-Federal roads. The employee provides necessary quantities for district contracts when requested. The employee performs pre and post work inspections of contracts as directed. The employee serves as liaison with contractor to manage work, scope, and change orders as necessary. The employee elevates questions as necessary for prompt review. The employee reviews, assesses, and submits non-commercial encroachment permits for approval. The employee works with permit applicants to obtain required information for permit approval in accordance with the Department's Strategic Goals. The employee assists the County Permit Engineer in assessing encroachment permits and makes regular site visits to construction sites to ensure work is in compliance with the approved encroachments permits. The employee ensures traffic control measures are in accordance with State specifications. The employee performs duties during hazardous weather as assigned by direct supervisor or RME.Minimum And Additional RequirementsA high school diploma and two (2) years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
