Transportation Incident Program Engineer

Job Summary

The Engineer will be responsible for tasks related to the Traffic Incident Management (TIM) program for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT). This position will work on-site at the NC DOT Statewide Traffic Management Center in Raleigh, NC.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze TIM performance data
• Engage in strategic planning
• Arrange After Action Reviews (AAR) for major incidents
• Provide program implementation support
• Oversee TIM-related contracts
• Conduct research on national best practices
• Develop guidance documents
• Manage multiple projects
• Conduct analysis and research
• Produce documents
• Develop training program curriculum
• Communicate with clients
• Support TIM, TSMO, and Traffic Operations programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field required
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Traffic Incident Management, Traffic Management, TSMO, ITS, Traffic Engineering, or Transportation Design and Planning
• Experience providing program support to a transportation client
• Experience applying transportation engineering and/or planning principles such as design criteria, project goals, and specifications and standards
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with the project team
• Ability to effectively plan and schedule work
• Preferred candidate location: Raleigh, NC metro area
