Job Summary
Remmey – The Pallet Company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Transportation & Logistics Coordinator to oversee daily transportation operations. This role is responsible for dispatching drivers, coordinating shipments, managing fleet assets, and ensuring efficient delivery performance.
The ideal candidate has experience in dispatching, transportation logistics, or fleet coordination and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining on-time deliveries, maximizing fleet utilization, and providing excellent service to customers and drivers.
This position plays a critical role in managing daily transportation operations and ensuring drivers, equipment, and deliveries are coordinated efficiently.
Schedule
Monday – Friday | Daylight Hours
Due to the nature of transportation operations, occasional communication with drivers outside normal business hours may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Dispatch Operations
- Coordinate daily delivery and pickup schedules for company drivers
- Assign routes and manage driver dispatch to ensure on-time departures and deliveries
- Communicate with drivers regarding routes, updates, and operational needs
- Resolve delivery delays, load issues, or routing challenges quickly and effectively
Logistics & Customer Coordination
- Schedule dock appointments with customers, warehouses, and distribution centers
- Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding shipments and delivery updates
- Coordinate third-party carriers when additional transportation capacity is needed
- Source competitive freight rates and secure cost-effective transportation solutions
Fleet & Asset Management
- Manage company fleet assets, through purchase, leasing, maintenance, and recordkeeping.
- Coordinate fleet maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Track equipment utilization to maximize operational efficiency
- Identify and schedule backhaul opportunities to reduce empty miles
Compliance & Operations Support
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations including driver hours of service, DVIR reports, fuel tax requirements, drug testing, and equipment inspections
- Monitor driver logs and regulatory requirements
- Maintain transportation records and operational documentation
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to improve delivery efficiency
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of dispatching or logistics coordination experience required
- Experience working directly with truck drivers or fleet operations
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics or transportation environment
- Experience working with logistics, dispatch, or fleet management software preferred
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance preferred
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
