The Lead, Transportation & Logistics is responsible for overseeing day-to-day transportation and logistics operations to ensure freight continues moving efficiently, compliantly, and without unnecessary delays or disruptions. This role requires a strong operational leader who can manage daily execution, troubleshoot issues in real time, coordinate across internal and external stakeholders, and take ownership of transportation activities from shipment planning through final delivery.
Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Lead daily transportation and logistics execution to ensure cargo moves on time and without avoidable disruptions.
- Monitor shipments closely and proactively address issues that could create delays, holds, missed departures, or additional costs.
- Support daily prioritization and issue escalation across domestic and international shipments.
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve shipment issues quickly.
- Drive operational follow-up on urgent or high-impact shipments to ensure continuity of supply and service.
- Identify bottlenecks, recurring service failures, and process gaps, and implement corrective actions.
Transportation & Logistics Execution
- Support and manage shipments across various modes, which may include truckload, LTL, parcel, air, ocean, and intermodal.
- Review and understand transportation documents such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, delivery orders, arrival notices, and related shipping paperwork.
- Ensure shipping instructions, routing details, shipment milestones, and required documentation are accurate and complete.
- Partner with internal teams and service providers to reduce delays, improve visibility, and maintain service performance.
- Assist with carrier coordination, booking support, routing decisions, and shipment follow-up.
Financial & Analytical Support
- Review freight invoices for accuracy and support invoice processing and resolution of billing discrepancies.
- Assist with freight spend tracking, reporting, and analysis.
- Support analytics related to carrier performance, delivery results, shipment issues, cost trends, and operational KPIs.
- Help identify cost leakage, service failures, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain strong attention to detail in financial and operational data.
