Build a Career Moving What Matters
At Ashley, we design and deliver comfort to millions of homes. As the world’s largest home furnishings manufacturer, we operate with a growth mindset—curious, inventive, and relentless about improving the customer experience. If you thrive on solving operational puzzles and making deliveries run like clockwork, this role is for you.
A Day in the Life
You arrive before the first trucks roll. The TMS dashboard is your command center—shipments queued, routes mapped, exceptions flagged. By mid-morning, you’ve synchronized with inventory, warehouse, and customer service to keep orders flowing. After lunch, you’re deep in carrier performance data, tuning routes to cut costs and shave minutes. Before you log off, you’ve closed out documentation, confirmed proof of delivery, and lined up tomorrow’s plan so drivers, DC teams, and partners are fully aligned.
What You’ll Own
- Transportation coordination: Schedule and manage outbound moves from the distribution center to customers and stores, ensuring accurate, on-time delivery.
- Performance tracking: Monitor schedules and KPIs; resolve delays or damage risks so freight arrives on time and in good condition.
- Cross-functional cadence: Partner with inventory, warehouse operations, and customer care to keep fulfillment seamless.
- Regulatory documentation: Maintain shipping paperwork (bills of lading, PODs) and uphold all compliance and safety protocols.
- Route optimization: Collaborate with drivers and third-party carriers to streamline routes and control transportation costs.
- Issue resolution: Triage and solve scheduling and transportation conflicts quickly to protect customer satisfaction.
- Continuous improvement: Recommend process enhancements that elevate service, reduce spend, and increase efficiency.
- Carrier communications: Keep tight, proactive contact with carriers and drivers on expectations, schedules, and service standards.
- Systems fluency: Use TMS, ERP, and logistics tools to plan loads, track shipments, and produce reports.
- Reporting: Analyze on-time rates, carrier scorecards, and cost-per-shipment to inform decisions.
- Safety & compliance: Ensure all transportation activities meet DOT and company requirements.
