Position: Transportation Manager

Job Overview:
The Transportation Manager is responsible for coordinating and optimizing all U.S.-based freight operations across manufacturing plants. This role oversees domestic transportation, inbound international shipments, and expedited freight governance. Embedded within Procurement, the position plays a critical role in protecting margins, improving freight visibility, reducing premium freight exposure, and strengthening carrier accountability. This is a high-impact individual contributor role with strong cross-functional interaction across plant operations, sourcing, and broker partners.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all domestic freight movements (LTL, FTL, jobsite deliveries) across U.S. plants.
- Manage inbound international shipments into the U.S., working closely with import brokers and forwarders.
- Oversee expedited freight and implement reduction strategies.
- Align closely with plant shipping/receiving teams to ensure timely material flow.
- Maintain working knowledge of tariffs, HTS classification, and U.S. import compliance principles.
- Negotiate rates with domestic carriers and lead RFX events for major lanes.
- Analyze root causes of premium freight usage and implement reduction strategies.
- Build foundational transportation KPIs and develop scorecards for carriers and brokers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and product compliance regulations.
Qualifications:- 5–10+ years of experience in U.S. transportation, logistics, or import coordination.
- Experience managing $10M+ freight spend preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. import processes and tariff structures.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating freight contracts and executing lane RFPs.
- Manufacturing or industrial supply chain experience preferred.
- ERP experience required (Infor experience preferred).
- Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills.
