Position Summary
The Transportation & Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting cakes, bakery supplies, packaging, and other operational materials between bakery locations, vendors, and designated delivery sites. This role plays a critical part in supporting bakery operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport cakes, bakery products, supplies, and equipment between bakery locations.
- Pick up products and supplies from vendors as scheduled.
- Deliver specialty cake orders and catering orders when needed.
- Load and unload deliveries carefully to protect product quality.
- Verify delivery accuracy and maintain delivery logs.
- Communicate with bakery managers regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns immediately.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and transportation guidelines.
- Assist with stocking and organizing products upon delivery.
- Support bakery operations with additional tasks as business needs require.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age (preferred based on insurance requirements).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
- Comfortable driving throughout the assigned market.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the operations team.
- Previous delivery, transportation, warehouse, or logistics experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, and climb in and out of vehicles throughout the day.
- Ability to safely operate a cargo van or company vehicle.
- Work in varying weather conditions while loading and unloading deliveries.
