Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Maintains custody, care, control, and secure transportation of non-citizens in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

Conducts transportation operations to courts, medical facilities, detention facilities, airports, and other authorized destinations.

Performs vehicle inspections, searches, and security checks; reports safety, maintenance, and equipment concerns.

Ensures proper restraints, identification verification, documentation, property accountability, and chain-of-custody procedures are maintained.

Monitors non-citizen behavior, conducts required counts and searches and maintains safety and security during transport operations.

Responds to emergencies, medical incidents, escape attempts, accidents, and other unusual situations in accordance with established procedures.

Maintains communication with facility staff, receiving agencies, and authorized personnel and prepares required reports, logs, and records.

Assists with facility security operations and performs Correctional/Detention Officer duties when not assigned to transportation activities.

Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition.

Completes required training, certifications, and other duties as assigned by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Must be representative of worthwhile qualities to which a non-citizen can identify 

Must be emotionally stable, understanding, and philosophically attuned to the objective of the facility. 

Language skills and reasoning ability are crucial to success in this position. 

Interacts daily with non-citizens and staff members while providing security for the facility. 

Education and Experience: 

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience in a correctional, detention, law enforcement, transportation, or security environment is preferred.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Must successfully complete all required facility training and certification requirements.

Must successfully pass required background screening and TOPS training, where applicable.

Long periods of continuous standing and walking per shift.

Frequent periods of sitting per shift.

Repetitive climbing of stairs to reach the assigned areas and working at heights.

Occasional kneeling, squatting, and bending to perform "pat" or "strip" searches.

Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting.

Occasionally responding to altercations and occasional restraining and securing assaultive offenders.

Ability to respond rapidly to potential security and/or medical codes/issues.

Frequent transferring and transporting offenders by walking or riding in various vehicles such as vans, buses, and other forms of transportation.

Continuous periods of operating/driving company vehicles to pick up and transport offenders per shift.

Remaining awake and alert while on duty per shift.

Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50-100 lbs.

Ability to occasionally withstand direct or indirect exposure to OC spray.

Exposure per shift of outdoor elements and temperatures with scheduled breaks
