Job Announcement
Since 1977, the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) has served the Fairfax County community by enhancing mobility, safety, and the quality of life of residents, businesses, and visitors through planning, coordinating, funding, implementing, and sustaining a multimodal transportation system. FCDOT is seeking an innovative, motivated and qualified Transportation Planner II to join the Active Transportation, Capital Projects, and Traffic Engineering Division (ACTD). This position works on projects in Fairfax County's Residential Traffic Administration Program, including the Traffic Calming Program, Cut-Through Traffic Restriction Program, Through Truck Restriction Program, $200 additional Fine for Speeding Program and the Watch for Children Program. This position may also perform other work related to residential traffic safety as well as supporting residential parking programs and associated street sign management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in civil engineering, urban, regional or transportation planning, or a closely related field; plus two years of professional experience in civil engineering, urban, regional or transportation planning, or a closely related field.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary. However, employee may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items less than 25 pounds in weight. Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Visual acuity to review detailed drawings, plans and documents. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to operate motor vehicles. Must communicate with others. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
