TRANSPORTATION PLANNING INTERN

PAY RATE: $25.00-$30.00 PER HOUR

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

Park City Municipal Corporation’s Transportation Planning Department is seeking a motivated Multimodal Transportation Planning Intern for winter and spring 2027. The intern will collaborate with the Transportation Planning and Transit teams on projects that improve mobility and access throughout Park City.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Transportation Planning Department provides policy direction, establishes local transportation goals, and prioritizes investments that support safe, sustainable, and accessible mobility options.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Transportation Planning Manager and Senior Transportation Planner, the intern will support the development of a short-range transit plan, a multimodal wayfinding plan, and related community engagement activities.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Support the development of Park City’s short-range transit and multimodal wayfinding plans
• Conduct research, collect and analyze data, and help prepare maps, graphics, presentations, and other planning materials
• Assist with public engagement activities, including community events, public open houses, surveys, and other outreach efforts
• Coordinate with Transportation Planning, Transit, and other City staff
• Assist with additional transportation planning projects and perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in transportation planning, urban planning, urban ecology, landscape architecture, civil engineering, geography, public administration, public policy, communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, or a related field
• At least 18 years old by the start of employment
• Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with Esri GIS applications
• Experience with graphic design or data-visualization software
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 applications
• Interest in public transportation, active transportation, and multimodal planning
• Experience with data collection, research, or analysis

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Occasional non-traditional working hours which may include evening and weekends.
• The anticipated internship period is December 2026 or January 2027 through June 2027. The intern may work up to 20 hours per week and must be available to work in person in Park City for at least 50 percent of their scheduled hours.
