The Transportation Planning Intern provides professional and technical support to the Transportation Planning & Engineering Division. This position offers students practical experience in metropolitan transportation planning, geographic information systems (GIS), data collection and analysis, multimodal transportation planning, engineering support, and public engagement activities. Under the guidance of professional planning staff, the intern assists with transportation planning projects that advance NOACA's mission and regional planning initiatives while gaining valuable experience in public sector planning.

o Civil Engineering
o Transportation Planning
o Geography
o Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
o Public Administration
o Environmental Studies
o Or a closely related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements of this position are related to a standard office environment with periodic field work. Employees must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment. The position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 35 pounds. Field assignments may require walking on uneven terrain and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
