POSITION SUMMARY Thompson Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated Transportation Engineer with 5-10 years of experience to join our growing transportation design team in our Tuscaloosa AL office. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in roadway and transportation design and will play a key role in supporting and leading projects from concept through construction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepare roadway and transportation designs plans and specifications using OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Support and lead design efforts for municipal, state DOT, and private transportation projects. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including survey, environmental, and structural staff. • Develop project deliverables including cost estimates, quantities, and design reports. • Serve as a task leader or project engineer on complex assignments. • Assist with client coordination, project management, and mentoring of junior engineers or designers.
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. • 5-10 years of professional experience in transportation or roadway design. • Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer or Civil 3D is preferred. • Professional Engineer PE license preferred, but not required for consideration. • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
