Responsible for overseeing the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of over-dimensional freight, heavy haul transportation, and complex logistics projects. This role manages safe, compliant, and cost-effective movement of high-value equipment by coordinating with internal teams, logistics providers, carriers, and regulatory authorities. The ideal candidate brings strong project management expertise with experience in special handling requirements, transportation regulations, and domestic/international freight operations.
Responsibilities:
Manage transportation projects involving over-dimensional, overweight, and high-value freight from origin through final delivery.
Develop detailed transportation execution plans including routing, mode selection, scheduling, storage, and risk mitigation strategies.
Coordinate heavy lift, heavy haul, crane operations, rigging, escorts, and specialized equipment requirements.
Conduct route surveys, feasibility assessments, and collaborate on engineering requirements for complex moves.
Partner with manufacturing, procurement, project management, and logistics teams to align transportation activities with project timelines.
Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, 3PL providers, and transportation vendors.
Resolve logistics disruptions while ensuring compliance with safety, EHS, permit, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate transportation documentation including permits, customs documentation, insurance, and bills of lading.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in transportation project management, heavy haul, or special freight operations.
Proven experience managing over-dimensional and overweight shipments.
Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.
Experience working with freight forwarders, carriers, and specialized transportation providers.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
Preferred: Experience supporting industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects; knowledge of domestic/international freight (road, rail, ocean, port); PMP certification; experience with SAP/ERP systems and Salesforce/CRM platforms.
