At Transportation Resource Management (TCI), our purchasing team sits at the intersection of operations, finance, and strategy. We’re looking for a Purchasing Agent who combines hands-on parts knowledge with strong analytical and procurement expertise—someone who understands truck and mechanical parts and knows how to manage spend, analyze cost, and negotiate supplier pricing.

If you’ve worked inside an ERP system, run RFQs, managed categories and supplier spend, and enjoy turning data into smarter purchasing decisions, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across our transportation, leasing, and rental businesses.

What You’ll Do

You’ll support all TCI companies, ensuring the right parts, tools, and services are sourced efficiently, competitively priced, and aligned with operational needs.

Purchasing, Inventory & Category Management

  • Source and procure truck parts, mechanical components, MRO items, building maintenance products, shop tools, Office support services, IT products and services, direct and indirect procurement for the company

  • Manage inventory levels and purchasing strategies to balance availability, cost, and service levels

  • Track and manage category spend, supplier performance, and pricing trends

  • Identify preferred suppliers and parts based on usage history, cost analysis, availability, and reliability

Cost Analysis, RFQs & Supplier Negotiation

  • Perform purchase and cost analysis to identify savings opportunities and support decision-making

  • Assemble, issue, and evaluate RFQs/RFPs for parts, materials, equipment, and services

  • Lead and support price negotiations with suppliers to improve total cost of ownership

  • Analyze supplier pricing, contracts, and spend data to support category strategies and budgeting

ERP Systems, Data & Process Improvement

  • Work within ERP and purchasing systems to process purchase orders and requisitions accurately and on time

  • Maintain clean, accurate purchasing, pricing, and supplier data within ERP platforms (Coupa experience a plus)

  • Support reporting on purchasing activity, spend, cost trends, and supplier performance

  • Participate in process improvement and data analytics initiatives that improve profitability and purchasing effectiveness

Collaboration & Compliance

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, facilities, finance, and service teams to understand demand and priorities

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements

  • Maintain accurate documentation for purchases, contracts, pricing, and supplier performance

  • Present purchasing insights and recommendations to leadership as needed

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or inventory management

  • Proven experience with:

    • Cost and purchase analysis

    • ERP-based purchasing systems

    • Category management and spend tracking

    • RFQs/RFPs and supplier price negotiations

  • Hands-on purchasing experience with:

    • Shop tools and equipment

  • Prior MRO and/or heavy equipment procurement experience strongly preferred

  • Undergraduate degree preferred (or equivalent professional experience)

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities

  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently

  • A collaborative, ethical, and service-oriented mindset

Why TCI?

  • Competitive salary: $66,500 – $68,000 annually

  • Make a direct impact on cost control, uptime, and operational performance

  • Work in a role that blends technical knowledge with strategic procurement

  • Collaborate across multiple business lines in a growing organization
