Position Title: Bus Coordinator

Term of Employment: 12 months

Reports To: Director of Transportation

Pay Information: NC04

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possession of a CDL with school bus passenger endorsement
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills required in word processing, database management, and spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of school guidelines and school board policies
  • Working knowledge of Synovia GPS Tracking System
  • Working knowledge of Synovia TAA (Time and Attendance System)
  • Ability to assign Activity Buses and Vehicles in Travel Tracker
  • Knowledge of TIMS (Transportation Information Mapping System) and/or equivalent system/software
  • Working knowledge of Fortress Bus Camera System

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates daily routing and driver assignments
  • Create schedules for substitute drivers
  • Substitute driver on a bus as needed
  • Ensures buses are kept clean and repair requests are submitted
  • Provides new drive route ordination
  • Monitors Synovia GPS tracking and TAA system for accuracy
  • Assist with routing evaluation to ensure safe and efficient bus stops
  • Assists TIMS Coordinator regarding route changes and updating information
  • Reports routing and student assignment issues to the TIMS Coordinator
  • Coordinates additional related program routes with TIMS Coordinator and Drivers
  • Investigate accidents; prepares initial paperwork; obtain pictures; assist at scene
  • Assist administrators with resolving conflicts regarding bus routing and student issues
  • Reviews, maintains bus camera system and provides video as needed; reviews video at school administrators' request
  • Overseeing and managing clock ins/outs and payroll for drivers and monitors
  • Assist with coordinating activity bus and vehicle assignments
  • Responsible for assisting with preparation of annual DPI Pupil Transportation Reports
  • Assist other Route Coordinators as needed

Additional Duties:

  • Assist as needed in the Transportation Department Office
  • All other Transportation related duties as assigned by the Director

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of school bus driver experience is preferred.
  • Supervisor or leadership experience preferred.
