PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This role is part of the North American Building Insulation (NABI) business and holds responsibility for executing daily outbound transportation operations and managing communications with carriers across various Owens Corning manufacturing sites. The Transportation Service Specialist (TSS) is tasked with allocating daily freight assignments within the Owens Corning carrier network, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled by the promised delivery dates while optimizing cost efficiency. In pursuit of seamless delivery and impeccable product integrity, the TSS engages in collaborative efforts with customers, carriers, manufacturing facilities, customer service specialists, logistics analysts, material planners, and other relevant Owens Corning entities to proactively identify and resolve any logistical challenges.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing service for our customers
  • Ensure timely and damage free delivery
  • Actively manage carrier performance
  • Proactive customer communication
  • Support Owens Corning plant activities to ensure timely loading
  • Verification of loading and delivery of material
  • Leverage basic supply chain understanding to maximize value for our customers
  • Recognizing and acting on customer opportunities
  • Understand basic Owens Corning product knowledge

METRICS

  • On time delivery to carrier performance
  • Warehouse/carrier capacity management and compliance
  • Tender acceptance
  • System driven carrier optimization
  • Carrier cost reviews

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school degree, Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 1+ year experience within Transportation and at least 2 years of Supply Chain experience preferred
  • Prior warehouse and/or manufacturing environment experience is benefical
  • Supply chain knowledge and experience preferred
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience desired (Ex: SAP)
