Job Requirements

The Transportation Specialist is responsible for coordinating all logistics involved with inbound and outbound

product shipments. Their primary responsibility is managing freight to flow in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner for our customers. The position also includes responsibility for organizing and managing the flow of contracted and third-party carriers. The Transportation Specialist may also work directly with Sweetwater's Sales team to coordinate the delivery of goods.

This position plays a key role in fulfilling Sweetwater's promise to our customers and in exceeding those

customers' expectations!

Primary Functions:

  • Manages incoming and outgoing shipments to achieve the most efficient and cost-effective movement.
  • Manages internal customer database 4D to help with shipment schedules and general communications with internal teams.
  • Addresses logistical problems and furnishes solutions
  • Improves business processes by recommending systems enhancements
  • Communicate with Director of transportation and Sales for outbound shipments to customers.
  • Continually improve visibility of carrier ETA's

Skills & Experience

  • Prefer 2+ years of experience working with outbound freight and scheduling deliveries within a fast-paced environment for a similarly sized company.
  • Experience with international shipments and related documentation (control docs, BOLs, manifests, tariffs, commercial invoices, FCC, FDA, USDA, USFWS etc)
  • Experience with final mile and white glove shipments to customers.
  • Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry including Fulfillment center experience and parcel freight. LTL, and FTL logistics
  • Strong computer skills including experience with transportation management systems(TMS) and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong geographical knowledge
  • Critical thinking, problem solving abilities.
  • An analytic mind and good numeracy skills
  • Good people management and coordination skills
  • Customer service experience
