Summary About the Position: This position is with the U. S. Army Transportation Command, 596th U.S. Army Transportation Surface Brigade, located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. The incumbent will serve as the Plans and Readiness Transportation Specialist for the 596th Transportation Brigade S3. Responsibilities Brief operational readiness status to Brigade leadership during Semi-Annual Operations and Training Briefings. Develop strategic plans for the movement of DOW-interest cargo arriving and departing ocean terminals throughout the Brigade AOR. Analyze operational plans (OPLANs) to formulate realistic wartime contingency plans for the employment of ocean terminals. Track mandatory unit training metrics using the Defense Training Management System (DTMS). Formulate written input for proposed joint regulations to support the update of terminal and container management doctrine. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Develop strategic plans for the movement of military forces and cargo through ocean terminals; 2. Analyze operational plans (OPLANs) and Time-Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD); 3. Use defense systems (such as DTMS or DRRS) to monitor and report unit training readiness; 4. Evaluate transportation policies to improve terminal management and deployment operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
