Transportation Supervisor

• Responsible for providing superior on-time delivery service to a retail division for all managed truck load deliveries of inbound produce, perishable, meat and grocery products critical to United's retail success

• Responsible for daily load tendering, event management adherence, review and resolve warehouse capacity availability and collaboration with the procurement teams, vendors, carrier partners, trucking and logistics personnel to achieve lowest net landed cost and superior on-time service to retail division

• Accountable for meeting and exceeding divisional plan on service and cost key performance indicators on period basis

• Utilize lean tools to develop action plans for addressing performance categories that fall below plan

• Responsible for optimizing the effective spending of all transportation dollars for a retail division with annual freight budget between $8 -$22 million in transportation spend

• Actively participate in the development and execution of load planning and optimization efforts

• Prior to load tender ensure DOT regulated transit time is accurate, review pallet utilization, proper ship dates for all loads outside of tolerance

• Work alongside the procurement team to confirm all load tenders fit within the performance metric expectations

• Perform other duties as requested or required by a higher level of management

Key Requirements:

• Some college courses including Transportation, Business, Logistics or comparable industry experience preferred

• 2 or more years' experience Grocery or Retail Distribution Center, Third Party Logistics Provider,Freight Services

• Basic knowledge of produce, perishable, meat and grocery products

• Basic knowledge of DOT Hours and Regulations

• Basic Knowledge of MS Office applications
