POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • Create a positive and mentoring environment for Beneficiaries (ARC rehabilitation program participants) through collaboration and partnership with Program staff.
  • Supervise and manage a team of Drivers, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Plan and optimize delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
  • Manage The Salvation Army fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and TSA policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Current valid drivers license with the ability to pass an MVR report (Required)
  • Must successfully complete TSA Driver and Safety Training.
  • Must pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and training experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
  • General understanding of dock and transportation safety.
  • Minimum five (5) years of transportation, operations, or light industrial experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist.
  • Ability to push, pull, grasp, and move equipment and merchandise.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and maintain certification.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks.
  • Ability to occasionally work outdoors and on uneven surfaces.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  1. Monitor driver performance and transportation operations to identify areas for improvement.

  2. Manage transportation costs while maintaining service levels.

  3. Maintain driver logs, vehicle inspections, DOT files, and delivery documentation.

  4. Coordinate with Retail, WTU, Program, and other departments.

  5. Resolve transportation-related issues and delivery delays.

  6. Partner with Human Resources in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training drivers.

  7. Prepare weekly schedules and ensure payroll is completed accurately and on time.

  8. Supervise, train, and develop Drivers, Material Handlers, and Beneficiaries assigned to Transportation.

  9. Plan and optimize delivery routes.

  10. Maintain DOT compliance and driver qualification files.

  11. Ensure trucks, tractors, and trailers meet TSA safety and operational standards.

  12. Supervise donation operations, Donation Attendants, CCC locations, donation bins, and donor relations.

  13. Review SmartDrive reports daily and provide coaching or corrective action.

  14. Conduct weekly Transportation Team meetings.

  15. Review and approve employee timecards.

  16. Ensure loading and unloading equipment is safe and operational.

  17. Ensure compliance with ARC safety policies and government regulations.

  18. Support organizational culture and change management initiatives.

  19. Assume day-to-day Operations responsibilities in the absence of the Operations Manager.

  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
