We are partnering with a well-established and growing specialty insurance organization seeking a Senior Transportation Underwriter to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly respected platform focused on transportation risks while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote position based in Texas.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong transportation underwriting background, experience working within the wholesale or specialty insurance market, and the ability to independently manage and grow a profitable book of business.
Key Responsibilities
Underwrite new and renewal transportation accounts in accordance with company guidelines and profitability objectives
Analyze submissions, evaluate exposures, and determine appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions
Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and agency partners
Grow and manage a profitable transportation portfolio through strategic underwriting decisions
Negotiate coverage, pricing, and structure with broker partners
Monitor account performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
Stay current on transportation market trends, competitive intelligence, and emerging risks
Collaborate with underwriting leadership, claims, and operations teams to support overall business objectives
Qualifications
5+ years of commercial transportation underwriting experience
Experience underwriting transportation risks within the wholesale, E&S, specialty, MGA, MGU, or brokerage market
Strong knowledge of auto liability, physical damage, motor carrier operations, and transportation-related exposures
Proven ability to manage broker relationships and generate profitable new business
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Demonstrated success in managing a profitable book of transportation business
