Progression through the apprenticeship program offers path-to-higher-tier pay based on completed hours, job proficiency, specialized training and proficiency in maintenance of roadways and equipment. You will play a vital role in keeping Pendleton County moving safely year-round.
As a Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator for Pendleton County, you may operate single and tandem-axle trucks, front-end loaders, skid steers, mowers, and snowplows to perform roadway maintenance and repairs. In addition to operating machinery, your role encompasses essential hands-on maintenance, such as asphalt patching, ditching, mowing, setting up traffic control barricades, and flagging. This work will involve a great degree of strenuous activity, working in extreme weather conditions and could require the ability to lift up to 75 pounds or more. Candidates must also be available for emergency call-outs and willing to work 12 hour days or night shifts during seasonal Snow Removal and Ice Control (SRIC) operations. Candidates will perform related work as required.

This is available to employees with 3 or more years of service. Holidays Twelve (12) paid holidays in each year. Vacation 15 to 24 days per year depending on length of service. Paid Sick Leave We offer an outstanding paid sick leave benefit. Employees earn 1.5 days each month or 18 days per year. There is no limit to the amount of sick leave an employee can accumulate.
