Position Summary:
 

This self-motivated team member works independently as well as in a team setting to transport patients, equipment, Supplies, and lab specimens throughout the hospital facility. The transporter will help patients get on and off beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs. Team member will maintain a clean and safe environment by disinfecting equipment before and after patient use.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Provides safe and efficient transport of patients to all areas of the hospital. Assesses patient to determine the
    most effective method for transport.
  • Communicates vital patient information with the department manager, group leads, and other appropriate
    team members.
  • Responsible and accountable for reaching individual productivity standards established by the department.
  • Transports charts and specimens in an efficient and confidential manner
  • Maintains all transportation equipment and assure its cleanliness and sanitary condition.
  • Demonstrates ability to log into and manipulate Epic Transportation Dispatching system effectively and
    efficiently.
  • Understands and demonstrates outstanding customer service behavior and attitude, which will support and
    facilitate the mission, vision, and values of Orlando Health.
  • Aids in informing customers, nursing units, and diagnostic departments of delays.
  • Proactively seeks prevention of fire and safety hazards by storing equipment in designated areas.Possesses the ability to adjust the liter flow and determine cylinder volume in an oxygen tank. Understands
    operation the tank gaugeHas the knowledge and ability to safely remove a telemetry unit from a patient.
  • Understands and demonstrates Independent Double Verification using two acceptable identifiers and scans
    patient wristband
  • Follows hospital and departmental policies with special attention to safety, dress, attendance, punctuality, and
    display of ID badge.
  • Handles work related information in a confidential manner using HIPAA and handoff compliance.Cooperates effectively and efficiently with team members to consistently meet the changing needs of the patient, department, and/or hospital.
  • Assists with proper disposition of all deceased persons to the morgue or body cooler as outlined at individual
    campuses.
  • Assists in the distribution and retrieval of clinical equipment throughout the facility.
  • Assists in cleaning equipment and restocks standby storage areas or returns it to the equipment room.
  • Assists in the distribution, retrieval, and maintenance of durable medical equipment outlined at individual
    campuses.
  • Transports medications (excluding controlled substances and IV Chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
  • Additional duties or responsibilities that may not be primary to the role but may be required occasionally or as needed to support the operation of the department
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA,
    and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from
    customers.
  • Must be capable of accessing and using all department related computer systems such as but not limited to the Epic programs that include Bed Tracking and Service Response where applicable, and Outlook Email.
  • Must be able to complete required mandatory educational training.
  • BLS/HealthCare Provider certification obtained within 90 days of hire. – renewed every two years.
  • Six (6) months Customer Service experience or 6 months volunteer experience preferred
