Summary
The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) is responsible for developing, operating, evaluating, and improving the Chesapeake Regional Healthcare (CRH) trauma program including organizing services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to injured patients. The TPM maintains day-to-day responsibility for communication to internal and external stakeholders, administration of an operating budget, supervision of trauma program employees, and support of quality improvement activities related to the trauma program. The TPM collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to promote education, research, and improved clinical, operational, and financial outcomes. Collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director to oversee the trauma verification by the American College of Surgeons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
  1. Provides strategic and operational leadership for Trauma Services in accordance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) standards and organizational goals.
  2. Coordinates trauma patient care across the continuum, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical protocols, policies, and practice guidelines.
  3. Serves as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for trauma care, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
  4. Oversees trauma registry operations, ensuring accurate data collection, abstraction, coding, validation, analysis, and reporting.
  5. Utilizes trauma data to identify trends, support performance improvement initiatives, and facilitate research activities.
  6. Leads quality monitoring and performance improvement programs to ensure compliance with ACS and other regulatory requirements.
  7. Represents the organization in regional, state, and national trauma system development and professional collaborations.
  8. Supports evidence-based practice, clinical research activities, and the evaluation of emerging trauma care practices.
  9. Directs patient, family, and community education programs that promote injury prevention, trauma awareness, and quality care outcomes.
  10. Develops, manages, and monitors departmental operating and capital budgets while maintaining fiscal accountability.
  11. Analyzes financial performance, productivity, staffing utilization, payroll, and budget variances, implementing cost-saving and revenue-enhancement strategies as needed.
  12. Oversees recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance management, coaching, and professional development of Trauma Services staff.
  13. Fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, innovation, effective communication, and employee engagement.
  14. Demonstrates leadership in problem-solving, conflict resolution, change management, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  15. Maintains professional competence and certifications, promotes continuing education, and serves as a liaison among patients, families, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders.

Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience: Five (5) years of trauma nursing experience
