Clinical Practice

Faculty provide comprehensiveAcuteCare Surgeryincluding trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care.

Academic Responsibilities

Faculty members actively participate in:

• Teaching General Surgery residents
• Educating medical students
• Mentoring PA and NP students
• Research and publications
• National presentations
• Quality improvement
• Academic leadership opportunities

Call Responsibilities

Faculty rotate through:

• Acute Care Surgerycall(trauma, emergency general surgery, and initial resuscitationof burn patients)
• Surgical ICU attending weekscovering patients from all surgicalspecialties

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency
• Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care
• Board Certified or Board Eligible
• Eligible for Texas medical licensure

• Excellent communication skills

What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Licensed Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
