Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of acute cardiac PCU experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Details

  • 44-bed Acute Cardiac PCU unit
  • Patient ratio of 3-4:1
  • Patient population includes ACS, PCI, CHF, and thoracic surgery diagnoses
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Night shift schedule from 645p-715a
  • Works 3 shifts per week totaling 36 hours
  • Required to work every other weekend per unit need

Requirements

  • Active KY or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • 2 years of acute inpatient PCU RN experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree (ASN) required
  • Proficient with cardiac patients
  • Skilled in reading telemetry and titrating drips
  • Experience with EKGs, sheaths, epicardial pacing, vents, TPW, wound vac, TR-band, PCA, CPAP, and feeding tubes
  • Familiarity with cardiac medications including NTG, amiodarone, dopamine, Cardizem, and Flolan

Additional Information

  • Provide safe, effective, patient and family centered nursing care within a teamwork-focused environment
  • Perform assessments and reassessments, implement and revise plans of care, and evaluate patient responses to interventions
  • Facilitate patient and family education related to care, treatment, and discharge
  • Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed staff and serve as a mentor/preceptor
  • Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts within a Practice Governance framework
