Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and prior travel assignments at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • Float pool covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
  • Patient population includes MS/Tele, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Neuro/Stroke, and Endocrine/Metabolic cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
  • Every other weekend required, with flexibility requested
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floats within scope to meet facility needs, including split shifts across two units within a single 12-hour shift
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Not open to block scheduling

Requirements

  • Active WA RN license or compact license required, pending license accepted
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or Level II trauma hospital required
  • Level II trauma experience required, Level I preferred
  • Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required, first-time travelers not accepted
  • BSN preferred
  • Epic experience preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Experience with peripheral nerve catheters, particularly on ortho floors, required
  • Experience with insulin drip titration required
  • Strong ortho and neuro skills required

Additional Information

  • Provide float pool nursing coverage across multiple acute care and telemetry units based on facility needs
  • Requires strong time management skills due to potential shift splits between units
  • Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I trauma status
  • Scrub requirement: any solid color scrubs, light blue scrubs also provided on unit
  • Holiday coverage required: 1 of 3 major holidays off permitted, must work 2 holidays, no Christmas RTO
  • RTO kept to a minimum and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate with no radius restriction
  • Prior UW staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
  • Manager prefers to avoid scheduling travel pairs together
