Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Acute Care travel assignment in Albany, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience and at least one prior travel assignment.
Details
- Hospital-based acute care setting with a 483-bed main campus
- 14-bed Med/Surg unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on both days and nights
- Patient population includes diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical, amputation, wound care, DVT, ETOH, and psychiatric patients
- Common medications administered include Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
- Telemetry monitoring is available on a separate unit; nurses are not required to read strips
- CNAs are generally assigned 1:12 and may be pulled for 1:1 or sitter assignments
- CPAP used; BiPAP used on nights only
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7p–7a with a shift change window of 6:45–7:15
- Every other weekend required
- Schedule rotates with permanent staff
- Floating required to all acute care, cardiology (for medical patients), or the EC for acute care patient holds
- MEDITECH EMR used in this position
- 17-week contract
Requirements
- Active GA RN license or compact RN license valid in Georgia required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Med/Surg or equivalent acute care specialty required
- At least one prior travel assignment required
- Experience in a larger, high-acuity, high-census, fast-paced acute care hospital required; Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience does not meet this requirement
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
Additional Information
- Primary Care Nursing model is practiced on this unit
- LPNs and LPN-Cs are part of the floor staff
- Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
- Strict attendance policy is enforced; repeated call-outs or tardiness may result in termination of assignment
- RTO and scheduling requests are honored only if included in the initial confirmation of assignment
- Scrub colors required: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, White top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white
- No bags permitted at the nurses' station; personal locks for lockers are allowed
- Nail polish is permitted, but artificial, gel, or Shellac nails are strictly prohibited due to CLABSI prevention protocols
- Hand hygiene compliance is actively monitored using sanitizer-tracking badges issued upon assignment start
