Emergency Department Registered Nurse (Part-Time)

Schedule

Part-time position with Day/Night rotations, including holiday rotations. Requires 2 shifts of 12 hours plus 2 on-call shifts within a 4-week period.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies nursing theory, technical skills, and communication to deliver high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN will assess patient needs, identify urgent or emergent care priorities, provide direct care, and evaluate patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments and assign priority of care in accordance with Triage Standards.
• Provide compassionate care, addresses comfort needs, and communicates updates to patients and families.
• Perform primary assessments of critical needs accurately and timely document any major deviations from the norm.
• Utilize various invasive and non-invasive procedures and interventions in emergency situations.
• Assess psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients and families.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and ongoing care requirements post-emergency.
• Maintain awareness of patient conditions throughout the ER visit.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Department setting.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only).
• Current New York State Registered Nurse licensure.
