Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of PCU experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Acute Care Surgery Progressive Care Unit setting within a Trauma Level I teaching hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Minimum of 2 holidays worked per contract
• Floating within scope required if needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license, Virginia or compact state, must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
• BSN preferred; diploma or Associate degree accepted from accredited school (ACEN or CCNE)
• Epic charting experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills, including starting and maintaining IVs preferred
• Conscious sedation experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• 2 professional references required (supervisor level or above)

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response for acute care surgery patients
• Facility has a natural nail policy
• Facility is a drug, tobacco, and smoke-free workplace, with no smoking allowed on campus
• All candidates will complete required orientation modules through the VCU Learning Exchange
• Modules must be completed by the Friday of orientation week
• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate with no radius restrictions
• Travelers and permanent staff must be separated from the facility for one year before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and are subject to manager approval; no time off granted during the first week of assignment
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
