Psychiatric Travel Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in adolescent psychiatric nursing or addiction care
• Current Colorado RN license through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies
• Current Nursys license verification
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Current influenza vaccination required; no exemptions
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and rotating weekends
• Ability and willingness to participate in recreational and therapeutic activities with clients
• Completion of a fingerprint-based national criminal history check within 30 days before placement
• Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• CAPS registration and clearance may be required before placement
• Certification in addiction counseling is a plus

Behavioral Health RN Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate nursing care to adolescents receiving treatment for addiction and mental health needs
• Monitor patient condition, behavior, safety, and response to treatment
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols
• Complete nursing assessments, documentation, care planning, and patient education
• Collaborate with behavioral health providers and the interdisciplinary treatment team
• Support crisis prevention, de-escalation, and a safe therapeutic environment
• Encourage participation in structured programming, recreation, and recovery-focused activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the care team
• Promote dignity, respect, accountability, and positive coping skills throughout the patient experience
