Job Summary: Certified First Surgical Assistant in a healthcare facility located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This full-time day shift position involves supporting surgical teams within the perioperative environment, ensuring quality care, and assisting surgeons during procedures. The role requires active participation in maintaining sterile techniques and providing technical assistance during surgeries.
Job Details:
Schedule: 4 - 10 hour days, dayshift only, with no call requirement and no block schedule guaranteed. The position may include floating to other intra-departmental units such as Orthopedics or Neurology.
Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA). Certifications required include BLS (American Heart Association) and Active National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, valid licensure to submit, and the candidate must meet the specified experience requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in robotic cases and familiarity with hospital-owned and communication-provided sterile instrumentation.
Additional Information: Orientation will be abbreviated, assuming an experienced first assist can adapt quickly to surgeons after initial bedside placement. The charting system used is EPIC. The candidate must be able to set up, pass, and assist with a variety of surgical cases, understanding roles specific to robotic surgeries.
Travel and Deployment Details: This position is based in an acute care setting with a bed size of 13 ORs. The facility utilizes hospital-provided scrubs, and the role does not involve weekends or on-call duties.
