Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing or behavioral health RN experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey or a compact state
• Current BLS certification required and must remain valid through the start date
• CPI certification required
• Epic experience preferred
• Strong clinical documentation skills preferred
• Experience with adult behavioral health, inpatient psychiatry, or mental health nursing strongly preferred
• Experience with de-escalation, seclusion, and involuntary commitment processes
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative interdisciplinary care team
• Willingness to complete compliance requirements before the travel assignment begins

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to adult behavioral health and psychiatric patients
• Perform focused psychiatric assessments and monitor patient status throughout the shift
• Administer medications safely and evaluate patient response to treatment
• Use de-escalation techniques to support patient safety and therapeutic outcomes
• Assist with crisis intervention, behavioral support, and seclusion protocols when needed
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Promote a safe, respectful, and healing environment for patients and staff
