Description:
Department focuses on adult psychiatric care.
The unit has 26 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:6-7 during the day and 1:8 at night.
Staff includes charge nurses and assistant nurse care coordinators available 24/7.
Experience in working with common diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, substance abuse, and depression is essential.
The unit does not admit detox or rehab patients, as those require specialized care.
PCTs will conduct safety checks, vital signs, room checks, assist with activities of daily living, and observe patient care closely.
Phlebotomy experience is required, and training is available.
PCTs may be tasked with providing 1:1 patient care and assisting nursing staff as necessary.
No respiratory therapy is available on the unit; registered nurses manage oxygen therapies.
PCTs will follow a schedule that includes every other weekend and holiday coverage may be required.
Travelers may need to float to different units as necessary.
The scrubs color for PCTs is maroon red.
Orientation is provided on the unit, and travelers will have a designated preceptor.
Excessive call-ins could result in termination.
This role requires adherence to safety and patient care protocols.
Utilization of de-escalation techniques is preferred to manage patient behavior.
