Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for a BMT/Oncology night shift assignment requiring chemotherapy certification and prior oncology experience.

Details

• Inpatient BMT Oncology unit performing autologous stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration
• Night shift schedule (3x12, 19:00-7:30)
• 4:1 patient ratio with average daily census of 30 across 32 beds
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required throughout the Oncology department based on need, not limited to home unit
• Uses EPIC for charting

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact license in hand required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• Minimum 1 year of Oncology/chemo experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in chemotherapy administration, port access/management, blood and blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV therapy, Foley catheter management, and telemetry monitoring/interpretation
• Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies and chemotherapy side effects preferred
• Experience with bone marrow transplant complications such as graft rejection and GVHD preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for oncology and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
• Practice within a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital that is a Level I Trauma Center
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
