Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Burn ICU position at a Magnet facility, requiring BSN, OH/compact license, and prior burn ICU experience.
Details
- Work in the Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU) of a hospital environment
- Care for adult and pediatric patients with burn injuries, including those with diabetes, cardiac, and psych comorbidities
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to competent units required during low census periods
- Epic charting experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand
- BSN required for consideration at this Magnet facility
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (TNCC preferred)
- Experience with vasopressor medications and sedation required
- Experience managing ventilated patients required
- Experience with arterial lines required
- Wound care experience required
- Burn care experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
- Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to burn ICU patients across adult and pediatric populations
- Support may be needed in surgical ICU settings
- Facility will consider prior employees to return as travelers, provided they are not currently active employees
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
