Job Summary:
Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL) Nurse in Peoria, Illinois. This position involves providing specialized nursing care within the catheterization laboratory setting, supporting emergent and scheduled cardiac procedures. The role requires expertise in reading electrocardiogram strips and managing patients with various cardiac diagnoses, including STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, congenital heart conditions, TAVR, MITRACLIP, and peripheral interventions. The nurse will work on a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, with additional call responsibilities.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts, with occasional work over to complete emergent cases.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that license application has been initiated; active BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS (American Heart Association) certifications; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a cardiac or cath lab setting; ability to read ECG strips; experience with titrating drips and managing patients with complex cardiac conditions.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in interventional radiology (IR) or electrophysiology (EP) procedures; familiarity with GE and Philips monitors, McKesson electronic charting system, and EPIC EMR.
- Call and Weekend Requirements: Six to eight weeknight call shifts per month, including primary and backup call. Full weekends are scheduled every 6-7 weeks, starting Friday at 5:30 PM and ending Monday at 6:00 AM. Additional 24-hour weekend shifts on average once per month as backup circulator for emergent cases.
- Additional Information: Charge nurse serves as resource and coordinator during shifts; nurses must adhere to scrubs dress code provided by the facility; orientation includes 2-3 shifts to familiarize with department protocols.
