Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiology PCU position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring at least 1 year of cardiology experience and strong cardiac drip titration skills.

Details

• Work in a 28-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with an average census of 26 patients
• Patient population includes Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain rule-out, post-cardiac cath (PCI with or without stent), post-EP procedures (pacemaker insertion, ICD, ablation), arrhythmia management, Peripheral Artery Disease, AAA Repair, and DVT/PE
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5; CNA-to-patient ratio of 1:11–14
• Must be comfortable titrating cardiac drips including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, Sotalol, and Tirofiban
• 12-hour day shifts, 0700–1900, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• Floating may be required to 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, and 5CC West
• EMR: Epic (experience noted); IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
• No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of cardiology experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Cardiac post-procedural experience required
• Proficiency titrating the cardiac drips listed in the job details is required
• One professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Department support includes CNAs (VS, blood glucose checks, safety rounds, ADLs), a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, Respiratory Therapy available 24/7, and Hospitalist and Intensivist coverage 24/7 — no IV/VAT team on unit
• Nurses are responsible for monitoring and verifying telemetry strips once per shift
• Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Royal blue scrubs required; free on-site parking available
